Review of my Anschutz 1517 rifle. I have just found out that a thumbhole stock is now available for this gun so expect a review of that soon - depending on price. This is the gun I use for the majority of my rabbit and rat shooting and whilst nowhere near as cheap as using a .22, I much prefer the .17HMR as the extra ‘whack’ from the supersonic ballistic tip rounds make for a more humane job. I was out shooting and decided to do a little target work @ 100 yards. believe it or not, i actually only fired the six shots shown in the video at the target! I only missed the 12″ X 12″ target with one round. I was pleased but have a lot of improving to do. Please stay tuned for some 200 yard shooting with my same Ruger Super Redhawk ,44 Magnum (7.5″ barrel). Ammo is the stuff I outlined verbally in the video. Comparing two rifles, both chambered in fine calibers. The 30-06 named “THE CLEANER” clearly has the edge on the .17 HMR as far as its destructive capabilities. Here’s my AMT Automag II in .22 Win Mag Jamming up again. After about 20 rounds, it will jam, and the pistol must be torn down and cleaned. The dimples which are machined into the breech were designed to hold onto the casing longer while the propellant is ignited. AMT went out of business several years ago (go figure), and there is no customer support for this pistol.
