Shooting review of the fun Walther P22 .22 semi-auto pistol. The P22 generally requires good ammo for function and as such we used CCI Mini Mag solids and they functioned 100% in the test. Other brands/types may not. But the gun proved adequately accurate, lightweight (17.2 oz), ergonomic for smaller hands (especially for women and kids), easy to load, and fun to shoot. Like all smaller pistols, it is hard to shoot accurately from unsupported positions. Also the sights are too coarse for …

Well I would say look at what your use of the gun would be as to wither you get a revolver or pistol like the Walther p22. I use the Walther p22 for a target gun and also a carry gun. Little small in caliber yet I like a light gun. Yet I would trust a revolver more being that if you have a dud bullet, etc. you just pull the trigger again. The Walther P22 I don’t believe you would have much trouble on just target “plinking” in the accuracy department.

ya u just got a ruger super redhawk last month in 44mag and the el cheapo blazer unreloadable shells r 32 bucks for a box of 50. thats the biggest reason im looking for a 22 plinker pistol. i have several 9mm 40 cal but want somethng that i can go shoot for and hr or 2 and not blow thru alot of $. i just havent decided whether i want a revolver or auto

Does good for what I use it for, being just a fair weather shooter. Accuracy seems to be good at 20 to 50 feet. Defiantly good gun to use that the ammunition isn’t a dollar a pop.

do you like the plinking ability of the gun? i want something that i can go out and shoot for a few hrs and not blow thru $100 in ammo but i dont really wanna get something thats super inaccurate

CCI or Federal. $6.57 for box of 100 cci. Federal bought a box of 550 and misplaced receipt. In federal will have a few dud bullets that don’t fire. CCI haven’t had the first dud bullet and majority of what I use is cci.

So far haven’t had any problems with my Walther P22. Shot less than 500 rounds so far and enjoy shooting. I would buy it again if I had it to do over. Always interested in what others has experienced.

Ya im gonna try to do that. But once you shoot it for awile and get used to where to put the pin on the factory sight, it nots to bad!

no, i don’t…but i guess you can find something on the net…i’ve never replaced factory sights on any of my stuff except for scopes on my rifles….but i bet if you got better sights on the p22 it could be a tack driver.

we took the p22 out today for the first time with no jams…about 200 rounds… had some accuracy issues due to the wide sights…we used cci mini mags…all three of us highly recommend the p-22…two were women and they loved the way it fit in their hands,,,it was a bit tight for me but i managed ok.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The prone firing position was designed for a specific purpose. And it may not be a robber she is firing at., or the distance could be far or she may see the robber breaking in and lay in wait …maybe a smart ass know it all like you …thinking he is being quiet might be walking around, thinking she is not home and she is at the top of the stairs laying in wait…The world has far too many smart asses. Maybe she is training to take one out.

i doubt you will hear a robber break in and get up nice and slowly and lay at the top of the stairs.

I have a P22 with the longer barrel from which I removed the fake compensator. I am not sure what the accuracy issue is with the tested gun but I group at least as good or better standing with no rest with mine as he does in this test. I usually shoot it at 25 yards and even some of those groups are not far off what he is doing here.

  25. 25 DooMv32 said at 12:43 am on April 19th, 2009:

Had a Mosquito duo-tone, liked it, but to many problems forced me to sell it. All CCI ammo (polished cases) would either stove pipe or not eject. I even had one shot to blow the bck of the case off and blow powder at/into my face. Did alright with bulk ammo, but all “GOOD” .22 ammo made it hiccup and wasn’t really as accurate as I was hoping. Any owners of both the sig and p22? would be interested in a P22 if it was w/out problems I had w/Sig…
