what are you talking about? You dont even need a backround check in most states. You can just buy it from a friend if you want and its legal to sell firearms privately

  3. 3 1motivateddevildog said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

@MountAnalogue just as with all other pistols you will have to go through the registration process to legally purchase one.

  4. 4 GunWebsites said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

there is no “license” to buy / own a firearm in AZ (or most states)

  5. 5 MountAnalogue said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

You still need a license any everything to own this?

@aapch1 actually i just looked and the 17 hmr fmj is actually made by cci, but I mainly use the 17 for hunting ground hogs at 25 yds to great effect, but fmj aren’t legal in my state for hunting

  7. 7 aapch1 said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

federal .17 hmr? depends on barrel length, and what model….. like for example this NAA nini revolver comes in .17, if your lucky penetration wise, you’d probably get similar results to a .22 winmag, a .17 is a rifle bullet, and it just kind of rolls outof this revolver, say ur only gonna get minimal, inaccurate penetration, based on my own experiences that is

@aapch1 I’m just curious but how do you think the federal fmj 17 hmr would work for penetration not that I intend to use a 17 for protection

@tito247 one thing I’d like to say and I’m not arguing with you, just stating my opinion.
I realize that shot placement is important but it would be nice to use something that will still have an effect even if the shot is bad like in the upper arm or something

I wanted the short, but at the time it wasn’t California approved, so I had to go with the LR. Now neither of them are - glad I got one when I did.

The .22 does not “bounce around” in the body, ever. This is just a stupid myth. The closest thing to this would be it hitting the other side of the skull and ricocheting slightly and this would hardly be considered bouncing around.

  12. 12 rickbar123 said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

Its a belly gun. If somebody is on you, this will end it.

  13. 13 tito247 said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

Oh my god. All this bitching. For the most part, its not how much “punch” the round packs, but where you put it. If someone breaks into my house, you better believe that 10 well placed, rapid,recoil-less head shots from my ruger 10-22 are gonna take him down. I don’t know how many times people need to hear it…its about shot PLACEMENT. This mini-rev is a nice little assassin gun. one of two shots pressed behind the ear and you’re done.

  14. 14 nebjammer said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

Yall really don’t understand what this gun is. It’s just a toy gun. (Not really)

And just to add on how powerful .22 is, a .22 bullet can carry a mile.

  15. 15 aapch1 said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

uhh, correction, .22 is more powerful than 17. 17 shoots faster,a nd has more punch, but a .22….well when it hits, instead of going straight through, bounces around, and has more bang… idk how to explan it… a .17 hmr round can penetrate 3″ of modeling clay, and busts. a .22 shoots straight through a foot of modeling clay. both were pistol tests. at 15 yards. but a .17 is technically more dangerous. no offense to you at all….

@braveTOMINATOR oh you got me all wrong my friend. ive spent alot of time testing what my 22’s can do. ive shot through about 3 1/2 inches of wood with a 22, i know they are deadly. i have no doubt 1 shot to the head would do the trick :). 1 thing though. the CCI rounds are the only ones that are 1600 fps. all the bulk packs of bullets are about 1200 fps

  17. 17 braveTOMINATOR said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

I’ve looked into pellet guns for varmint hunting. They don’t compare.

The best .22 Varmint Pellet guns fire a 12.5 grain pellet at 1050 FPS.

    A standard .22LR fires a 32 grain bullet at 1640 FPS.

The .22LR is a deadly little cartridge. There was a story in American Rifleman a while back about a man who’s house was broken into by a prowler. The man retrieved his .22LR pocket gun, and shot the man multiple times in the chest.

The prowler died before the paramedics reached the scene.

  18. 18 RcUniverseGuy said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

.17 is more powerful than the 22

  19. 19 RcUniverseGuy said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

its a pellet it doesnt have as much mass or weight as a 22 slug

  20. 20 oaklandpinoy said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

    .17 cal

  21. 21 maritimegirl1 said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

Guess you don`t know alot about guns then. 1100 fps in a rifle, and my guess would be you wouldn`t stand in front of it.

  22. 22 almanCCC said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

oh and i like how u use the word “think” other things or more powerful..

never said it wasn’t dangerous, but its weak for being a gun, thats just the truth

  23. 23 almanCCC said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

@GunWebsites now ur just putting words in my mouth, i never said its “non dangerous: i know it can kill someone.. but its the weakest bullet there is. (yea u can probly find a smaller caliber somewhere on earth) but u know what im trying to say

  24. 24 GunWebsites said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

then you are unaware of logic and reason

Just because there is something more powerful, does NOT mean the first thing isn’t powerful at all

I can find a .454 revolver, does that make a smaller .357 non-dangerous? of course not

It is irresponsible to ‘disregard’ .22 short as non-dangerous, simply because you think other things are more powerful

  25. 25 almanCCC said at 10:18 am on March 12th, 2010:

@GunWebsites uhh i can get a 22 caliber pellet gun and it will be just as deadly as that thing, probly more powerful considering most 22 pellet guns are over 1000 fps
