NAA 1860 and the PUG .22 Mag

Posted: February 5th, 2011 | Author: zackpow | Filed under: 22 Magnum Pistol | Tags: , , , , , , |

NAA’s 1860 looks like a little Colt Walker… very cool. I love it. The fluteless cylinder on it though is a little off. In my opinion. The Pug is awesome too… but it’s cylinder has flutes… that’s just a little off too. In my opinion. So let’s look at what they look like if I swap them. Ah… they look awesome.

    Have you had any trouble with HP or any type of frangible ammo performing like a fmj instead becuz of the small barrel?

    I wish they made the mini mag and black widow in 3″ barrels.

    I would like to see the 1860 in Cap & Ball.

    Oh, that is neat. Looks easier to shot with the slightly larger grips. More if a target gun, but you could still carry it. I like the octigon shaped barrel. Reminds me of the old revolvers.

    @MadOgre
    Great Videos…I agree that cylinder swap looks sweet! Have you done this and tried shooting?

  8. 8 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    @ifly65 That’s true.

    I heard those cylinders are ‘tuned’ to each gun and not to be swapped. Is this true?

    @mrpuddlemrpuddle I cant believe myself sometimes when I see how far I can hit soup cans with mine. Very accurate pistol. I have the longer barreled mini mag.

    I have a problem with my retaining pin. It bends sometimes after shooting .22 mags. Then I have to bend it back I fear it will get weak. Can you harden the pin. If I did would it crack? This is driving me crazy. Thank you

    @MadOgre Im going to have to slightly disagree with you on that one. I saw a test recently of a man who used a pug (well black widow) to see how far a .22 mag would go into filled water jugs. he shot from 20/25 feet and went though three jugs. He was using hollow points and they mushroomed but did not fragment. Id say for these, they are pretty good. I do agree with going with the magnums though over long rifles.

    Woo! Mine’s being shipped today! I had to buy one online which was kinda dumb. I had to pay $20 shipping then I have to pay my local FFL $25 to accept it.

    My .38 pokes my balls too much. This gun should be easier to hide in my pants.

  14. 14 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Absolutely.
    When the choice is 5 shots of one thing, or 5 shots of something more powerful - I’ll take the more powerful. And in these little guys, every little bit helps.
    Remember - this stuff is a Nasal Spray. You shove the gun up their nose and clear their sinuses. It’s really not that good for anything else farther away…

    Do you think the .22 mag is better than the .22LR for self defence?

  16. 16 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Almost the IDEAL boot gun.

  17. 17 curtispa said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    would u say that would be a good boot gun ?

  18. 18 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Less than 300. Like 260 to 280 most places.

  19. 19 phildaguy said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    $300 or more. Why not? It’s better than buying expensive antiques.

  20. 20 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Thanks.
    Yeah, I like that .22 Mag KT… I’m going to order one next month or so.

  22. 22 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Yeah, as HK45Mark23 points out, timing issues make doing so a bad idea.

  23. 23 MadOgre said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    Of course not… but it would be nice if NAA offered that as a factory option. In fact, that’s why I did this… to let NAA know my opinions.

  24. 24 HK45Mark23 said at 5:34 am on February 5th, 2011:

    It is not recommended that you switch up the cylinders in the NAA revolvers. You may experience timing and alignment issues.

    saved to favs for future reference. thanks for showing that the smooth/fluted cylinders are interchangeable. but damn that means i’ll have to buy both. darn, lol.
