@TheRJMortimer? wonder who ‘forgot it’ there?
@Gunblastdotcom hahahah !! That is always the best solution.
I did that? with the Ruger ‘MK III or 22/45′ dilemma I had a few months back. lol
I’m with you - buy ‘em? both!
Man.. if I can’t decide on SS vs. Blued soon.. I’m gonna have to buy both! Jeff-? any advice?!
Jeff great piece of iron I’m getting one for my? birthday can’t wait
@Gunblastdotcom Lol only 37 here but in the rare place of having a great job and no wife or kid just yet
So I am indulging in my hobby while I can
I figure between this gorgeous revolver, my para ltc .45 and my glock 21SF .45 (I like big fat rounds) I have 3 guns I will have to pass down to my kids when they come along and they will still work excellently provided i keep em clean
Going back to the range to knock myself silly? firing some more .44 today!
Very good weapon. Excellent choice. You are not poorer, you are richer! It is much better to turn your money into guns, as the buying power of our dollar is falling rapidly. Have you bought any bacon or coffee lately? That Ruger will increase? in value, but those dollars will not. The beard is also turning whiter every day. See, my hair is getting white, and I am complaining about prices. It sucks getting old.
Jeff
Damn you and your videos Jeff
I had to go out and buy one after watching this and it has been great fun
You have made me several hundred dollars poorer! Oh and by the way the epicness of your beard has improved since this 2009 vid
I found the grips excellent and it handled standard loads just fine. However it was my first time with a .44 and ppl halfway down the range could feel the? overpressure from the shots lol!
my dad lives in arizona and was poking out in the desert and found a super blackhawk we clean it up and it? shots just fine
but not when you forget where ear plugs :/
I bought one of these new in the 90’s and found it unpleasant to shoot as it banged my middle finger? mercilessly. Obviously the stock grips had to go but before I could replace them (Uncle Mike’s makes an excellent grip for this) I traded the Ruger away for something else, in this case a decent Garand, so…
If a gun works as intended, I am pretty happy with it. However, i do not? waste time testing junk.
Jeff
Jeff,
Keep the excellent work up, youre great!
We both love guns and I often say I like all of em even though im aware of the fact that there are “not so good ones”.
I havent ever seen you reviewing a gun and not liking it… So do you love all guns or are there maybe a top three of the worst guns you? ever had your hands on? That would be very interessting to know
It is a very good weapon, and easy? to shoot well. You are starting out right.
Jeff
Jeff you are awesome man. My brother just bought one of these Ruger .44 Blackhawks. I am 16? and surprisingly I can control it.
I have the flat top Anniv. model. Love it. Going to hunt with it for deer and maybe a? hog. Used it a few times for groundhogs this past summer.
Cost $10 or so. Order it and do it yourself.? It’s easy, knock out a pin, and put the new site on.
Ha. I am thinking about selling it now. I love? the gun but putting a new front sight on will cost as much as I’ll loose in a sale so….
I will try to use some light 180-200 grain bullets and see if it’ll shoot those before I go giving it away.
Yup, takes a taller front site. Mine had the same problem (I? bought it used and wondered if that’s why the guy sold it) put the taller front site on and it’s shoots dead straight up to 300 grain bullets.
Use lighter weight bullets, or get a taller front sight. If you are using 240 grain? ammo, try some 180.
Jeff
Question:
Cant get the rear sight down far enough on my super blackhawk. Have it cranked down all the way but it’s stil about 5″ too? high. What do you all suggest?
yea, you? can’t beat those large frame big bore revolvers. a couple of my buddies have little s&w .44s, but theirs’d probably blow apart if they tried chambering the heavy loads i throw through mine
That’s my kind of handgun too. I just bought an? Old Model brass-frame Super this week.
i got an old SB and i love it to death. my friends bring all their little semis shootin, and of course i gotta? show em up with the real hand cannon, haha.
Now that is a? real handgun. I started out my handgun shooting life with a 5″ Single Six I bought with money earned from weedeating for a landscape company. Learning to put sights on a bouncy squirrel well enough to take one most of the time taught me alot about handgunning and hunting. I’m still really fond of any ruger single action.
REAL GOOD HISTORY LESSON,? THANKS
