This is Crosman’s new Nitro Piston Short Stroke. This .22 cal version really hits the mark and hits it hard. It has quickly become one of my top 10 rifles.

    @sfshrimp

    I have one of the newer versions of it.. now it is a remington (still made in the USA!) and I love it.. quite and accurate in .22, the .177 is not nearly as accurate

    Hey Rick, did Crosman make a new version of this without the scope peeling, if so can you review it? Thanks.

    @TailSpin215

    depends.. generally I like them better.. You can get a very high quality spring gun that shoots as nice, but they are serious money. The one spring gun that comes close in my opinion, is the RWS 350 mag… great gun.

    are nitro piston riffles better than sping brake barrel rifles

  16. 16 AirGunWeb said at 7:54 pm on September 6th, 2010:

    @Rooster1Cogburn

    Agreed… I’m a big fan of the German Beeman rifles or RWS rifles.

    @AirGunWeb Yep, I’d honestly be scared to use a Chinese import. My father was looking for a rifle easy to cock as he’s got back trouble. I ended up pointing him to the Beeman R7 for $400 scopeless, but that’s a rifle that will look the same in 30-40 years with proper care. Thanks.

    @Rooster1Cogburn

    The fit and finish on this is pretty good.. the stock flaking issue has been resolved and the gun is a great deal better than the Chinese imports. Does it measure up to German quality.. no it doesn’t.

    Rick

  19. 19 Rooster1Cogburn said at 7:54 pm on September 6th, 2010:

    Being made in the U.S.A. means that the fit and finish is going to be poor and the stock is going to be falling a part on a brand new rifle. If you’re looking for quality, got to head over the the Germans.

    @attentionsniper

    I don’t use it… but following the owner’s manual is the safe bet. I’m not sure what that oil is, but if they are putting in the compression chamber it must be a high flash point silicone. I’ll have to see if I can pick some up.

    350 mag.. for sure

    Hey rick, nice Video!
    i have this gun also, what you think about the RMCOIL, which stand in the owners manual (Point 8). “aplly a drop of Crosman RMCOIL every few hundered shots into the compression chamber. The external metal parts should be cleaned with a cloth that has RMCOIL on it.” I read on some internetsites, that this isnt good for the weapon. Do you use this oil? thanks

    @AirGunWeb Hey Rick, what do you suggest, the RWS 350 Mag or the NPSS? Which is better?

  24. 24 AirGunWeb said at 7:54 pm on September 6th, 2010:

    @kbckiwi

    good question… that I don’t know the answer to? I’d talk to Crosman directly and see what they say.

    Rick

    @mikeesolazy

    nope.. no need to fill it.. it is a sealed system.
