Welcome to the Nutnfancy “Circles of Death” .22 (or airgun) Drill or COD. A computer generated sheet with precise 3/8″ circles, stacked in neat rows, provide the target. Plan on using a good scope, preferably one that focus down to close ranges for maximum accuracy (Weaver RV9 shown, recommended still). If you have two shooting lanes then two shooters can compete against each other as shown in a elevated stress rapid fire drill where accuracy will win the day. My favorite gun in these drills is the .22 bolt action rifle. The Marlin 925 is one of the best in the world I think: ultra smooth, fast, holds 10 rounds (with the Marlin 10 rd mag purchased separately), has a great trigger (T900), is amazingly accurate with its Micro Groove rifling (really works), lightweight, has a perfect barrel profile, and is extremely affordable. In this vid, this quintessential and personal favorite .22 bolt gun goes up against the also excellent CZ 452 “American.” The quality levels in terms of finish in the 452 are higher: gorgeous walnut stock with sharp checkering and an amazing bluing job. It also has a great trigger and top notch accuracy. However in this drill its bolt manipulation is a distant second when binding is encountered and a special techinque is needed to achieve the faster speeds of the Marlin 925. Polishing the bolt and components may help slick it up (however that shouldn’t be needed …
@jtnsusi Love my Savage MkII-F. It drives nails, bolt is super smooth, accu-trigger rocks!
@TheLateBoyScout I only have used the Federal 550 pack from Walmart in my Marlin 975 and it’s great. I’d say over 99% reliability in about 1000 rounds (failure is a FTE or stovepipe). So I have no reason to use anything but what is cheap. For a bolt gun, I’d say the same. As for accuracy, I am certainly not accurate enough as a shooter to require better ammo, if it even helps much.
@sniperA2 savage mark II fv- cant go wrong
Since I like this kind of games, i recreated the target (I hope you don’t mind nutn).

The pagesize is german A4, but if you print this centered it should fit on the american 8,5×11 letter format, too.
I had that Marlin .22 many years ago. It’s a good high value gun but I give the nod to the CZ. I got one in .17HMR for my wife and it’s the best made rimfire I’ve seen other than the Anschutz I shot in college. Better wood, better metal finish, cleaner trigger, screwed in barrel (not pinned) and super accurate. My only complaint is bolt clearance; it misses the scope by a hair. Much higher price than the Marlin but so is build quality and performance. My Rem 541-T tops them both though.
Hey nutnfancy, do you have a good suggestion for a $500 or cheaper .22 with scope for target shooting? im looking for a bolt action with a bipod. preferably a larger stock. any ideas? please and thank you.
OMG….alright i’ve only been watching for 4 mins and i’m annoyed with all the weird nerd talk. Circle of death drill….i’m done watching
PFI DUDE those laughs and smiles are so forced. C’mon man admit it. The only reason why youre there is to promote your website lol
Great video, point of interest tho, the Hawke scope should feature a fast focus eyebell, I have a Hawke 3-12 x 50 AO and on mine you spin ring on the eye end and it acts as a dioptric adjustment lens and once set for the shooter should be ok for all ranges.
Hey nutnfancy try to get hickok45 to do a vid or two with you
I got .22 M&P 15 when I turned 15, I love it.
Dude, I just baught a NIB marlin 925 for 185 the other day….
good shootin fancy
any comment on the new browning t-bolts? How would that compare to the CZ 452/453 or a ruger 77/22 ?
@nutnfancy ROGER… just an observation….BREAK….slow shooter or not its the round that hit that count…BREAK….and out of the hit its the well placed ones that get the job done the first time…CAR..OUT.
Thanks for all the hard work keep the vids and gear a comin!
nutn can you make a video or direct me to one on how to put a sight on a M16 carry handle
Rock those glasses PFI
NICE
I shot the CZ 452 yesterday; it was the first rifle I ever shot. I chose it because of this video. You are awesome nutnfancy!
Lame name, tons of fun! This is done in my garage with my .177 pellet rifle(1100+ ft/min). It’s a little slower because it’s a break-barrel rifle and iron sights at no more than 8 yards. That might even be too far for iron sights (hey, my eyes are getting old, okay?) Still haven’t settled on a scope for it. Let me know your fav scope for a break-action, spring loaded rifle.
Just made my own circles of death target and had it out with my marlin 981ts, looking foward to your review of the marlin bolt .22
Terry, no doubt, has the coolest mustache I have ever seen.
i do this with my PCP airrifle at 50 yards. For the people who know, it’s an air arms s400. the 12ftp shit version.
whats you’re take on the Marlin Mod.25?
AWESOME shooting! I love it! Kudos for the music too. :0)
hi, i have a request: i want to buy a gun but i live in Mexico, and the largest caliber allowed for civilians in handguns is .380. Could you tell me which is best for me to buy between a glock 25, beretta 84f “cheetah”, and tanfoglio FT-9F. (these are the only ones civilians have acces to). thanks a lot.
