Two shots into water filled milk jugs. CCI Maxi-Mag 40 gr. hollow point. Bloody elle even my air rifle can do one of those filled with water! I would have thought a firearm would do more than 3.

I would not recomend this round for rabbits becasue it will dammage more meat than necessary. This round would probably be very good for fox; lots of internal damage for humane kills but very small entrance and exit wounds to prevent pelt damage. No experience with kangaroos, sorry can’t help you there. I have never tried the 30 grn V-max, please let me know how it works out for you.

I have used this round on about 25 woodchucks with shots ranging from 10 feet to 160 yards. I keep many of my woodchucks for meat, so I have been able examine the wound channel when dressing the animals. Typical performance includes a permanent cavity about the size of a computer mouse with lots of smaller cuts from fragments. The bullet base will allways exit even on a heavily quartering shot, but the wound afer the first cavity is small an narrow until the exit.

have you used that round hunting? im trying to choose between the hornady 30 gr v-max and the cci 40 gr HP for rabbit and fox hunting maybe the odd kangaroo. its for my savage 22 magnum, have you had much sucess with it? or did you just do the water tests? whats the maxium distance youve shoot it at with effectiveness?

I’d be interested to see this test done with a .25.

Purchase one of those new mountain dew 16 oz aluminum bottles. Drink the dew, fill with water, and shoot it.. entrance hole is the size of the head of the bullet. Exit hole is thesize of YOUR head..lol

Is anyone is willing to run a similar test using a 32 cal round ball?
